Why We Honor
In a world that often feels divided by criticism, negativity, and discouragement, choosing honor is one of the most powerful decisions we can make.
In Pastor Kevin’s message, Why We Honor America, he reminds us that honor isn’t reserved for perfect people or perfect places. Honor is a posture of gratitude. It’s recognizing the value of what God has placed in our lives and choosing to steward it well.
We honor our nation not because it is flawless, but because it is precious. We are grateful for the freedoms we experience, the opportunities we’ve been given, and the men and women who have faithfully served and sacrificed to protect those freedoms. We also recognize the Christian principles and biblical values that have helped shape our nation’s foundation.
Most importantly, our hope has never been in a country, our hope is in God.
Because we worship God, we choose to pray for our nation. We choose gratitude over complaining, hope over cynicism, and honor over criticism.
The Apostle Peter wrote:
“Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.” (1 Peter 2:17)
Honor begins with God, but it doesn’t stop there. It extends to our families, our churches, our communities, and even those with whom we may disagree.
One of the most memorable thoughts from Pastor Kevin’s message was this:
“When we honor what we have, God can entrust us with more.”
What would happen if we lived that principle every day?
When we honor our spouses, our marriages become stronger. When we honor our families, our homes become healthier. When we honor the local church, we help create a place where people encounter Jesus. When we honor our communities, we become carriers of hope instead of contributors to division.
EVERYTHING IS BETTER WITH HONOR.
Honor changes the atmosphere of every room we enter because it reflects the heart of God. It reminds us to see people through the lens of value rather than criticism and to respond with gratitude rather than entitlement.
As followers of Jesus, may we continue to be known as people who build up instead of tear down, who pray instead of complain, and who bring hope wherever we go.
Let’s choose honor. Our homes will be stronger. Our churches will be healthier. Our communities will be brighter. And together, we’ll leave a legacy that points people to Christ.
