come on we did that let’s do it okay you can grab a seat again let’s go to John
chapter 5 John chapter 5 is black church Sunday but it’s still G to be on time I got 26 minutes so we’re GNA do this
thing okay um the last time I was here I think I preach a chapter of my book at Team Church conference I’m G to actually
do the same today I’m going to preach chapter 5 of this book called brainwashed I wrote this book uh it came
out about a year ago go um and I think that you need to overcome toxic thoughts and take that control of your mind uh
over 90% of people who win the lottery end up going broke within five years because they never had a money problem they had
a mind problem and the enemy wants nothing more than for you to come in church with your feet but your mind
stays stuck in bondage and your mind stays stuck in Egypt okay it took uh it took God’s power and his might to get
the people of Israel out of Egypt but then it took 40 long years and decades
and generations to get Egypt out of them that’s a mentality that’s a stronghold of the mind and so we declare this that
the same mind that was in Christ Jesus be in you that you have the mind of Christ Jesus was not anxious therefore you have peace Jesus is not depressed
therefore he may he may have had moments but his General mindset was a mindset of purpose and vision and Clarity and so we
declare if you’ve had a mindset of confusion double-minded we declare today come on that your mind belongs to God that your mind doesn’t belong to lust or
pornography your mind doesn’t belong to doubt your mind doesn’t belong to fear or shame or guilt your mind belongs to
God so I’m going to preach chapter five of this book brainwashed and chapter 5 is based on John chapter 5 so go ahead
grab your bible and we’re going to go to John chapter 5 John chapter 5 and we’re going to read uh and if there’s a word that I don’t
say okay we’re going to kind of do fill-in the blank style so if there’s a word that I don’t say you’re going to say the word that I don’t say because preaching is not a spectator sport it’s
a participate it’s a participatory activity okay um and I’ve got an awesome family is there a picture of my family I think there’s a picture of my yeah
that’s my son and my wife and they are amazing and um if it wasn’t for my wife
releasing me to uh to walk in the calling of God on my life then I would not be in Tacoma Washington today so we honor her okay John chapter 5 go ahead
if you got a Bible if y’all ready to eat I’m ready to cook so let’s do this thing John chapter 5 John chapter 5 it says
sometime sometime Jesus went up to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish festivals now there is
in Jerusalem near the Sheep gate a a what a pool okay a pool uh there’s a
pool which in Aramaic is called Bethesda and which is surrounded by five covered colonades okay so uh John gives us a
description here a great number of disabled people used to lie three categories what’s the first category the
and then the second category is the and then the third category is the three distinct groups of people now I want to
show you this because the blind people only associate with blind people the lame people only associate with the lame people and the paralyzed people only
associate with paralyzed people because the enemy’s agenda is to get you to so identify with your problem so identify
with your issue that you will only congregate with people who have the same problem as you I know you don’t have
this issue at Champion Center Church but oo back at my home church in Dallas Texas it’s crazy how people come to
church for Jesus but they find the other people who struggle with the stuff who they struggle with so we can all be be in
church but the gossipers find the other gossipers all be in church but the complainers find the other
complainers we’re all in church woo but some of us who struggle in in some areas
oh we just find a way to find the people who get us who understand us you know I’ve
ministered to a lot of young adults especially around the issue of uh not issue around the topic of dating and you know one of the funniest things that a young adult say to me it’s like oh my
gosh Pastor Manny he just gets me he gets me and I go well baby girl
maybe that’s the problem you got daddy issues he got daddy issues and y’all get each other maybe you need somebody in your life who
don’t get you but who can challenge you who can confront you baby maybe you need somebody in your life who can’t actually
relate to you but can call you higher who can get you to a higher standard maybe just
maybe if you’re blind other blind people can bring Comfort but they can’t bring
change other lame people they understand but they they just can’t bring change and I think sometimes if we’re not
careful my issue doesn’t just become an issue now my issue becomes who I am and
now if we talk about sin in church now you are upset and church
hurt because you don’t see it as we talked about Sin you see it as we attacked you because you have become one
with an issue that God has never called you to become one with baby I declare over your life today what you thought was your identity is not your identity
that’s just an issue that you deal with but the enemy has wanted you to be not just have an issue but be the
identity oh I’m preaching today come on let’s keep going one who was there had been an
invalid for 38 years when Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this
condition for a long time Jesus asked a very important question do
you oh do you want do you want to get well now this is a very polite
question cuz Jesus understands that healing will actually jack up your life
oh see we idolize the arrival of getting at healing but we don’t understand that the process of getting to Healing will
actually lead to massive disruption in your life because guess what this man has done for 38 years he’s begged for a
living for 38 years I’ve been to this exact pool in Jerusalem and the cool thing is that it’s situ situated in such
a main thoroughfare that you have to walk by it to get to the temple which means this was the best place for
someone to Garner pity from people who were walking by Jesus has a very kind and
compassionate question are you sure you want me to heal you cuz if I heal you guess what you’re
going to have to do tomorrow you going to have to go get a job you going to go have to yeah you go
have to find gainful employment if I heal you okay how can I say this a Champion Center that that you
understand how to empathize with all my crazy young adults in Dallas uh how can I say this oh if you actually come to church and God heals you of all your
daddy wounds you won’t have an excuse for why you still date stupid
people Brokenness is actually convenient cuz as long as I’m broken I have someone to blame as long as I’m broken oh I can
blame everybody I’ve dated and never take responsibility for my own dysfunction as long as I’m broken oh I can blame my father I can blame my
mother I can blame the government I can blame I can blame anybody I can blame all kinds of people and never have to take responsibility so Jesus says okay
bro are you sure you want me to heal you because you can’t receive power and
pity from the same Source at the same time woo we going to work this we going
to work this the moment I decide to get pity from God I’m now ineligible to receive power from
God so many of us oh we are living in an epidemic of victim mentality and people who want all their
friends to RSVP to your pity party we are living in a world where everyone’s
to blame but me everyone’s the problem but I don’t have to take responsibility
over my decisions or my actions oh and nothing makes you blame life like
pain but it’s not this guy’s fault that he’s paralyzed Jesus is pretty clear there’s
another time in the New Testament where the disciples like hey Jesus who SED this guy or his parents that he was like born blind and Jesus goes whoa whoa whoa
whoa whoa whoa whoa you’re trying to put God in a box you’re looking for someone to blame and Jesus is very very clear
that sometimes when we’ve done nothing wrong but we’re still in a predicament of life that is uncomfortable or painful
oh it is easy to try to look for someone to blame so Jesus says are you sure you
want to get well it’s funny because the last time I was here I’m pretty sure I talked about my family story okay uh and
for any of you who maybe this is the first time you’re hearing me if you have context about the family I come from it’ll probably be easier to take some of
the stuff that I have to say Okay my dad immigrated to this country uh after spending 18 years in prison in Cuba my
dad is always like prisent America that sounds easy you get meals and showers and a bed okay my dad spent 18 years in
prison in Cuba immigrated to this country immediately got hooked up with the wrong crowd of people started selling drugs then got addicted to drugs
my dad took me to a crack house for the first time when I was 5 years old I say first time because it was not the only time or the last time my mother was
pregnant with my older sister at 12 years old gave birth at 13 was pregnant again at 14 years old had my older brother at 15 years old three of my
aunts are prostitutes five of my uncles are alcoholics I’ve met all of my cousins through glass because they were incarcerated when I met them I’m the
first orango to graduate from college the First arango with a master’s degree June 8th 2024 I’ll be the first Wrangle with a doctrate I’m the first Wrangle to
own property I’m the first Wrangle to ever write a book I’m the first Wrangle to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ the first wrango to go through counseling
and be whole and healed the first wrango to surrender my life to the lordship of Jesus and actually allow him to
brainwash me with the blood of the Lamb in the water of the word I’m the first arango to not be a victim but to take
control life because you can do all things through Christ who gives you strength I don’t care who your mama is I
don’t care who your father is I don’t care what neighborhood you were born in I don’t care what school you went to God
can do anything with anybody because he can make a way I serve a God who knows
how to make hey way somebody give God a shout of Praise
Hallelujah if you are looking for someone who should be the poster child for victim mentality is
me I got all kinds of reasons why I can’t why I shouldn’t but there’s one reason why I can and that is the same
spirit that Rose Jesus from the grave lives on the inside of me you don’t get to be a Christian and identify with a
god who’s not even a victim to death and be stuck in victim mentality at the same time you’re not a victim greater is he
who lives in you than he that’s within the world you’re not a victim you’re the head only and never the tail you’re not a victim you are more than a conqueror
because of his love you are not a victim you can do all things through Christ who gives you strength you are not a victim
and and you have no excuse so Jesus asked a very polite question you
sure are you sure you want to be healed because you could be at the pool and never find
Healing you could trick all your pastors you could fool everybody come to church for 38
years and church just become your comfort zone and never become the place that
confronts you challenges you and forces you to change forces you to be different you
could be at the pool and never get power because you can’t get pity and power from the same SS at the same time I remember I was a young adult and I
finally decided to get into some therapy you know what I’m saying because the altar works but then you need to sit on somebody’s couch we believe in
both okay some I some people like I just believe in the Holy Ghost and that’s why you still crazy
okay the Holy Ghost and a therapist okay both and and so I’m sitting there with a therapist and I’m venting about my
father I’m venting about how my dad neglected me and my mom how my dad was a drug addict how my dad wasn’t there and I’m just venting about all the stuff
that my dad did not do and who he was not and uh the therapist I’m I then go on to say that my father could talk his way into anything talk his way out of
anything that my dad was manipulative with his words even though my dad had been an addict my whole life when my dad lied to me I knew he was lying but I
still believed him because my dad had this magical ability to weave a web of deception that you would get caught in if my dad had a superpower oh baby his
superpower was his words the therapist heard all of this and said back to me sounds like your
father left you a powerful set of gifts it’s funny now it wasn’t funny then I was like how about you put your
little notebook down and actually listen to what I’m saying the therapist said can you describe your father one more time I was
like yeah he could talk his way into anything talk his way out of anything my dad was manipulative with his if my dad had a superpower oh that superpower was
his my dad was a contractor so although my dad was an addict he could get a 2030 $40,000 down payment for a job never
show up for the work I mean my dad should have been in prison multiple times but my man had a a personality that could light up a room he was
charismatic he had a way with his the therapist said y I got it right sounds
like your father left you a powerful set of gifts I was like fam you better make it plain I got black church Mama on the therapist real fast like you better make
it plain cuz the same way I found you I will find another therapist cuz I did not come here for you to confront me or challenge me or change me I came here
for you to rub my back and hand me to Kleenex let me say it this way I came
here for pity and you’re trying to empower me but I don’t want you to empower me I just
want you to give me pity so I asked the therapist a question changed my life forever I was like what do you mean my father left me a PR set of gifts here’s
the question that the therapist threw back at me the therapist said what do you do for a living I said I’m a preacher
the therapist said then it sounds like your superpower are your words it sounds like you can talk people out of anything talk people into anything it sounds like
the father that you hate is actually the very vessel that God selected so that you could accomplish the destiny that God had for you it sound like you can
talk people out of depression and talk people into Joy it sounds you can talk people out of anxiety and talk people into peace it sounds like you can talk
people out of hell and talk people into heaven because the exact gift that God knew your father did not know how to
handle he gave it to you and every single time you are tempted to hate your father you need to look at your father
and know God selected this man to bless me but as long as I stay a victim I’ll never see the potential that
lies within me as long as I stay stuck and what he didn’t
do and how he didn’t show up see victim mentality blinds you it gives you tunnel
vision and all you can see is what you don’t have you can’t even have faith you can’t operate with vision you can’t see that
oh my gosh there are more for us than there are against us what what what are you talking about people always say are you a glass half full or glass half
empty kind of person and I’m like the glass is 100% full all the time half of it’s full of
air and half of it’s full of water water and the reason I can operate in faith is because that therapist changed
my mindset that day that it doesn’t matter what the enemy means for your
evil God can turn around for your good I called my dad after the counseling session and I was like hey
Pop thanks my dad’s so confused he’s like for what like you may not realize it but you
blessed me when you left me and my mom at home with no groceries I remember this because my mom was a tither my mom
would tithe off of her welfare check my mom got a disability check and a welfare check in food stamps and she would tithed off of that so miss me with
the I can’t afford to tithe that’s victim mentality you can’t afford not to tithe you cannot afford to
make poverty worse in your life I remember my mom mom tithing off of her disability check and her welfare check
my mom was pregnant at the age of 12 she would and got her GED when I was in college cuz she wanted to like accomplish something while I was accomplishing something and my mom
taught me something she was like son we never Rob God I remember we had no groceries in the house refrigerator empty Pantry empty and my mom taught me
you never Rob God we never ever ever we’re already poor we’re not going to make it worse by being poor and
cursed we already poor situation are already bad we’re not about to make this
worse I remember the day Catholic Charities rang the doorbell my mom went to go answer the door a man a cathic
priest was at the front door and said these words I was driving by this street delivering groceries for people who are actually on our list ma’am you are not
on any of our rosters you’ve never signed up for grocery delivery but the Holy Ghost told me to bring food to your house cuz I serve a God who knows how to
make a way he knows how to get blessing to people with seed in the ground I declare over your life this Legacy
offering is about to change your whole scenario it’s not just going to change your finances you’re finally going to believe oh I can trust this God I trust
God more than I trust money I trust God more than I trust what I can do for myself I trust the Lord as my mom brought the groceries in the house she
looked at me and said this is why we never Rob god with tears running down her face she said God knows how to provide he’s Jehovah Gyra I’ll tithe
offer welfare check out tithe off of a disability check why would we ever rob God he’s more than able and he’s
faithful and he’s generous you can’t outgive God I need a good amen in
church I called my dad I was like thanks you left at home with no food but
that’s when I realized God was Jehovah Gyra when you took me to that crack house and I was five that’s when you
released angels to encamp around me and protect me everything that addiction meant for evil God has turned around for
good
everything here we go Jesus asked the man a very simple yes or no question do you you want to get
well I want us to sit with that question do you want to get well or do you just want something to
complain about do you want to get well or has your issue become so entangled with how
you see yourself that actually you don’t know how to function if you were well I came from such a dysfunctional
family that for the first couple years of me and my wife’s marriage I I I I attracted chaos I created
arguments when there was peace I’d find something to fight about and Jesus had an act do you want to get
well because the longer you’ve operated in dysfunction the longer dysfunction has become functional for you do you
want to get well because let me tell you something if if you get healed you’re going to have to leave this pool if you get healed you’re going to
have to leave all the friendships you’ve made with all the people who are blind lame and paralyzed if I actually heal you I’m going to disrupt the very fabric
of your life I love how I don’t know if anybody’s ever asked somebody a very simple yes or no question and then 30 minutes later
you’re like all I ask was how are you you know you I I was just looking for like I’m good you
know look at how the man responds Jesus says do you want to get well
sir I have no one to help me in the pool when the water is stirred
while I’m trying to get in someone else goes down ahead of me it’s always someone else’s
fault now the Bible’s already told us there’s only three groups of people at the pool blind people lame people paralyzed
people victims will take a fair scenario and convince you it’s unfair someone keeps getting down ahead
of me who are you trying to convince me that there’s a blind dude at the
pool who’s out running you to the pool like I need you to hone in on these
words I have no one I have I have no one to help me I wish I
could teleport back back in time and say bro here’s why you have no one to help you you have no one to help you because
you chose to be at a pool with people who get you instead of people who can help you you made that
decision there’s another man that Jesus healed of the same issue and instead of being at the pool that he
was eligible to be at guess what he went and did his two legs didn’t work but but he found four friends whose all their
legs did work so he went from zero legs working to eight legs working and one day those four friends they got sick of
their paralyzed friend not being able to walk so they walked their friend to a house where Jesus was healing people
they got up on the roof they ripped open the roof they ripped the tiles off the roof and the Bible says when Jesus saw
their faith he healed the friend Baby I don’t want to just be healed by Jesus I want to get some people around me who
can take me to Jesus I’m in the middle of depression I’m not going to be at the depression pool oh no I’m going to find
four friends with some joy and they’re going to take me to Jesus I’m anxious I’m not going to be at the anxiety pool
oh no no no I’m going to find some friends who’ve got peace and they’ll take me to Jesus Oh I I’m sick in my
body I’m not going to find camaraderie with people who get me see this is the problem when your
issue becomes your identity that’s your whole life it’s funny I grew up all my
uncles’s alcoholics all my aunt’s prostitutes everybody in my life poor
trapped it was always somebody else’s problem see the government no bro your
alcoholism easy to blame the government hard to look in the
mirror white people they’re after us no no no homie you’re addiction your
issue blaming another person robs you of your power I’m going to I’m going to jack up your
theology you are so powerful I feel the Holy Ghost you are so
powerful that God can’t even save you without your choice the most powerful thing in the
universe is the blood of Calvary and it will mean nothing to you people will still go to hell unless they make a
decision with their free will to choose God you are the most powerful thing in
your own life you get to choose your friendships you get to choose your destiny you get to choose whether or not you spend forever
with Jesus you get to choose eternity you get to choose what your identity is whether it aligns with what God says about you or what your issue says about
you you the moment you blame somebody else you take all that power that God vested
in you and you give it away so now a generational curse has more power than you
have over your own decisions my father doesn’t have more power over me than me my mother doesn’t
have more power over me than me my community doesn’t have more power over me than me poverty doesn’t have more power over me than me nothing has more
power over me than me I have the decision to say Jesus is going to be the head of my life Jesus is going to be my
Lord I am going to follow him I am going to be a citizen of the Kingdom I am going to make healthy decisions I am
going to be whole I am going to overcome by the blood of the lamb and by the word of my testimony I need a good amen in church
today here we go you can stay standing as we close the man’s like I have no
one dude you have no one because you made decisions to surround yourself with people who don’t who can never lead you
to Healing here’s the rule of four and five here we go four and come on four
and if your four closest friends are all poor guess what you’ll be the fifth if your four closest friends are paralyzed
you’ll be the fifth if your four closest friends are gossipers and complainers you’ll be the fifth but what works in
the negative also works in the positive if your four closest friends are Spirit-filled you’ll be the fifth if your four closest friends can all walk
you’ll be the fifth if your four closest friends they given a legacy offering guess what you’ll be the fifth if your four closest friends are Property Owners
you’ll be the fifth if your four closest friends are all married guess what baby somebody going to hook you up with their cousin you’ll end up being the fifth if
you’re four closest friends are all out of debt it’s just the law of humanity you’ll be the
fifth this man has this whole elaborate story I have no one to help me and I love what Jesus says you would think
that Jesus has like a lot of words for this dude nope what does Jesus
say get up get up you tired of being a victim
get up you tired of being confused get up throughout the entire New Testament the number one way that Jesus heals
people is by touching them but this man had been looking for a hand out his whole life so Jesus doesn’t touch him and you want to know what most of us
want uhoh here’s what we want oh
wow we want God to get down I
understand I empathize with you it’s uncomfortable down
here and here’s what we say I can’t I can’t accept advice from anyone unless they’ve walked in my
shoes really I have a lot of people who have never walked in my shoes that have
helped me overcome all kinds of issues in my life why does someone need to get down
in order to help you so you’re telling me you’re so insecure that you need someone want to
get down on your level and relate to you before you choose healing and
wholeness Jesus doesn’t do this he doesn’t get down with the man on the mat here’s what Jesus
says get up my job is not to get down to your level my job is to call you higher my
job is to elevate your faith my job is to elevate your mindset I’m not going to get
but today you are going to get up you’re going to get up out of your excuses you’re going to get up out of whatever negative Cloud your mind has been in you
are going to get up you’re going to get up and you’re going to lift up your hands you’re going to get up and you’re going to begin to worship me you’re going to get up and you’re going to
declare the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living I’ve not called you to wait for me to get down on
your level I’m calling you higher this always boggled my
mind how does Jesus say get up to a man who’s paralyzed it’s very socially awkward
thing to say thank God no one from gen Z was at the pool that
day no Millennials at the pool that day
either like Jesus that’s Politically
Incorrect why is it that Jesus can say get up to a man who’s paralyzed because Jesus never saw the
man as paralyzed the man saw himself as paralyzed the man identified himself as
paralyzed but Jesus never saw him based on his problem Jesus saw him based on his potential in the same God that said
to a paralyzed man get up is looking at you today and saying I don’t see you based on your mother who was a teenage
Mom I don’t see you based on your father who was an addict I see the power on the inside of you I see the potential on the
inside of you I see the little boy that I knit together in his mother’s womb I see you based on your destiny not based
on your setbacks I see your real identity you don’t even know yourself you haven’t
even met yourself yet how dare you identify as anything until you first meet the
one who knows your identity better than you know your own identity oh that’s the great deception of our
age is that I could figure out my own Identity On My Own how
arrogant that the created thing even think that they know more about
thems than the god of the universe knows about you so I’ve got two invitations
today if you’re a Believer you’re a Christian in the room oh but I’ve been preaching to you
you’re a Believer you’re a Christian but you still got toxic mindsets when we’re talking about the Legacy offering you’re just like oh
that’s for the wealthy people oh that’s for the people who’ve got it instead of going no I identify as someone who’s generous I identify as
someone who’s wealthy I’ll never identify as something other than my god-given potential if I’ve been preaching to you
and you’re just like man you’re talking to me Pastor Manny I’m saved I’m a believer I’m a Christian
but oh yeah I struggle with the thoughts in my mind I just want to know who I’m talking to just wave at me I want to
pray for you God we declare a hedge of protection around your people’s thinking
God your word says that we perish for a lack of knowledge so God I ask for a double portion of wisdom and Clarity
that Lord God that they would walk in the same mind that Jesus walked in God for everyone with their hand lifted all over the room today we break Theon hold
of victim mentality and we declare we you are going to get up you are not going to stay stuck in whatever mindset
you’ve been trapped in but you are going to get up we put a demand on the supply of heaven today and we declare that the
anointing of the Lord can break the stronghold of the enemy and we declare it is broken off of your life and your
mind is free in the name of Jesus we pray all over the room here’s my second invitation you’re
not a Christian you’re not a believer but somewhere in the service you knew
that it wasn’t just Manny Rango talking to you today but you could discern the voice of God today if that’s you you’re saying
you know what I walked away from church years ago or maybe I’ve never even been a Christian I don’t identify as a
Christian can I tell you you will attempt to find your identity for the rest of your life you will never find it
I identity only comes from the one who formed you and fashioned you and made you and he thinks you are so
valuable that he doesn’t let sin Define who you are but he sent his
son to die on the cross so that you could live forever with him Jesus treated his son who was perfect like a
sinner so that he could treat Sinners as if we were perfect if you’re in the room today and you’re not a Christian but you need a
second chance you you need Grace you need forgiveness you need Mercy with all heads bowed and all eyes closed can just lift up your hand wherever you are just
lift up your hand if you’re not a Christian but you want to be I see your hand you’re not a Christian but you want
to be I see your hand I’m proud of you you’re not a Christian but you want to be I see your hand at any campus
Belleview dupac Yakama you can lift your hand right now God we declare over every
person with their hand lifted today is about to be the first day of the rest of their life God we ask for the grace and
the mercy of Lord Jesus to Reign and rule in the sanctuary
today whether you are a Believer who lift your hand or you’re a new believer who just raised your hand for the first
time we want to prophesy and declare over you there is no issue that identifies you more than the cross cross
in the blood of Jesus Christ and you are not a victim but you are brainwashed through the renewing of your mind come
on God we ask that as we leave this place we wouldn’t leave your presence God we love you we submit all of our
ways to you God I ask that you would take the words that we spoke today like the two
fish and the Five Loaves that you would cause them to multiply let an anointing be on the word and we declare over every person who heard the word word today
they’re good soil and the seed of the word today is going to produce a harvest in their life 30 60 and 100 fold in
Jesus name we pray Champion Center I love you so much I’ll be in the lobby signing books I would love to take a selfie with you and hug you come grab a
book I love you come on give God a shot of praise
