The Bible Is Our True North — True North for Kids
This month in our Children’s Ministry we’re sailing a little closer to shore — teaching our kids that the Bible is their True North. When the storms come, when choices feel confusing, and when the world shouts a hundred different directions, God’s Word is the steady point that never moves.
Here’s how we’re walking through it with our kids — simple truths they can carry with them every day.
The Big Ideas
- The Bible is our True North — it shows us the right way to go.
- The Bible is our Compass — it points our hearts back to God.
- God’s Word is the foundation of truth — it never changes.
What is Truth?
- Truth is what’s real and always right.
- Just like North is always North… Truth is always Truth.
- Jesus stood up for Truth (John 18:37) — he is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
What are Lies?
- The devil is called the father of lies (John 8:44).
- Lies are like his first language — sneaky and convincing.
- Lies can creep in from:
- Our thoughts (“I’m not good enough”) Mind Monsters
- Our world (things culture tells us)
- Remember: A hard truth is better than an easy lie.
The Truth About YOU
- God made you on purpose and loves you so much.
- The Bible tells us we can take off the old us and put on the new us (Ephesians 4:22–24).
- The new you is how God sees you!
You are chosen. You are loved. You are His.
Quick Family Moment (Do this together!)
At dinner tonight, ask your child:
- “What does it mean that the Bible is our True North?”
- “Name one lie you’ve heard this week. What is the truth we can say instead?”
Finish by reading one short verse together — try John 18:37 or Ephesians 4:24 — and pray, asking God to help your family follow His True North.
