We Remember: Honoring Memorial Day at Champions Centre
Memorial Day weekend is more than the unofficial start of summer. It’s a sacred opportunity to pause, reflect, and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.
At Champions Centre, we never want to take that sacrifice lightly.
Each year during Memorial Day weekend, we honor fallen service members through the tradition of the Missing Man Table—a powerful symbol of remembrance and respect.
The table may be small, but every detail carries deep meaning.
The empty chair represents those who are not here.
The white tablecloth stands for the purity of their intentions when answering the call to serve.
The single red rose reminds us of the loved ones and families who continue to carry both pride and loss.
The slice of lemon speaks to the bitter reality of sacrifice.
The pinch of salt represents the tears shed by those left behind.
And the candle reminds us that their memory will never fade.
It’s a moment that calls us to gratitude.
As a church, we believe honor matters. We honor those who gave everything for freedoms we often enjoy every day without even thinking about them. We honor the families who carry their legacy forward. And we honor the courage, selflessness, and sacrifice represented by every name remembered this weekend.
This Memorial Day, as we gather with family and friends, enjoy time together, and celebrate freedom, may we also take time to remember those who made it possible.
We remember.
We honor.
And we thank you.
