The Lord Will Provide

April 26, 2026

What does it really mean to trust God as your provider — not just in theory, but in the moments when life doesn't add up? In this powerful message, Pastor Kevin takes us to Genesis 22 and the place Abraham named Jehovah Jireh — the Lord Will Provide. This isn't just an Old Testament story. It's a blueprint for how God meets us when we choose to trust and obey him, even when it's costly. You'll discover why the greatest miracles of biblical provision always begin with an act of obedience, how God will never ask you to give what you don't have — but will ask you to give what you'd rather keep, and why tithing is ultimately a trust test, not a money issue. Whether you're walking through a season of financial uncertainty, praying for a breakthrough, or simply want to deepen your faith and dependence on God, this message will anchor you in the truth that your heavenly Father is your ultimate provider. God made a way for Abraham on that mountain. He can make a way for you too. Watch and let faith rise. The Lord will provide.

Talk-It-Out

Icebreaker

Think of a time when something came through for you at just the right moment — whether it felt like coincidence, a friend’s kindness, or something you can only call God. What was that experience like, and how did it shape how you see provision?

Discussion Questions
  • In Genesis 22, Abraham told his servants “we will worship and then we will come back to you” — even while preparing to sacrifice Isaac. What does that single statement reveal about where Abraham’s trust was actually anchored?
  • The message points out that the greatest miracles of provision in Scripture — the wedding at Cana, the feeding of the 5,000, Abraham on Moriah — all began with someone doing something in obedience first. What pattern do you notice, and why do you think God works this way?
  • Pastor Kevin said, “God will never ask you to give what you don’t have, but he will ask you to give what you would rather keep.” What does that tension reveal about how God defines trust — and how is that different from how we usually think about generosity?
  • The message describes holding what we have with an “open hand” rather than a closed fist. Honestly — are there areas of your life (finances, relationships, plans, control) where your grip is a little too tight? What makes it hard to loosen it?
  • Deuteronomy 8 warns against the mindset of “my own strength produced this wealth.” In a culture that celebrates self-sufficiency, how does that warning land for you personally — and where might that mindset be subtly influencing how you make decisions?
  • If Jehovah Jireh is a place you enter through trust and obedience, where is God currently inviting you to step forward — even when it’s not convenient, comfortable, or guaranteed? What would it look like to say yes to that this week?
This Week’s Action Step

This week, identify one specific act of trust or obedience that God has been nudging you toward — something you’ve been hesitating on because it feels risky, inconvenient, or costly. Write it down, share it with one person in the group for accountability, and take that step before your next gathering. Then come ready to share what happened — because the ram shows up in the thicket when you’re in the place.

And it’s just an important time to trust God
and and to look to him and to focus on his promises in your life
and to tell your heart to calm down and tell your soul to be quiet and stay focused
on what God’s word has said to us. And so today I want to I want to just share with you on the topic. The Lord will provide.
The Lord will provide. Can you say that with me?
Can you say it like a a little bit more like you mean it? Are you ready?
Can Can you look at your neighbor and tell them that? Like right now just look at them and tell them like tell them.
Okay. Say with me. My heart’s open. My heart’s open. My mind’s ready. My mind’s ready. Make me better, God. Make me better. By your word.
By your word. I receive it. I receive it. I believe it. I believe it. I won’t be the same again. In Jesus name.
You may be seated.
First book of the Bible, the book of Genesis is where we come across the name Jehovah Gyra.
Jehovah Gyra. And that was that was the name of the place.
Everybody say the place. Say it again. The place.
It was the name of the place where God told Abraham to offer his son Isaac as an offering.
And most of us are familiar with that story where Abraham, we’re going to go through it. We’re going to read about it in a
minute. But where a Abraham was told by God, commanded by God to take his son,
his only son Isaac, and to offer him as a as an offering unto God, it was in that same place
that the Lord provided what Abraham needed and did not have. So I’m going to begin in Genesis 22:4.
It reads like this. It says, “On the third day, Abraham looked up and saw what?” Saw the place. Say it with me.
“Saw the He saw the place in the distance.
And he said to his servant, “Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there.
We will worship and then we will come back to you.”
Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and placed it on his son Isaac.
And he himself carried the fire and the knife. And as the two of them went on together, Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, he said, “Father,”
Abraham said, “Yes, son.”
He said, “The fire and the wood are here,
but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?”
And Abraham answered, “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.”
And the two of them went on together. Say it with me. The Lord will provide. The Lord will provide.
So a lot of times we recognize and understand that one of the names
of God or for God in the Old Testament is Jehovah Gyra. But a lot of times people don’t realize that it was first a place
and it was in this place where it was in the region of Mariah.
But Abraham literally named the place after God provided a ram to sacrifice in place of Isaac.
Is there anybody here who remembers being in that place in your life? And I’m not talking about physically. I’m
talking about the place where God provided for you. Yeah.
Do do you remember times where you look back and you can see where where God brought
a person into your life and that person became a connection or a door opener
in your life. You look back and you some of you might remember a tough season where you didn’t know how you would how
you’d make it. You didn’t know how you would pay the rent.
and you look back and you go, “Okay, I know about that place.”
Any witnesses here today? Anybody? I I know about that place. In fact, let me
just say this as I start to talk about this topic this week. If you want to build your faith this week, just
remember and talk about God’s provision in your life.
[applause]
remember and share and talk about when you were in that place and what you had was not enough and he became more than enough for you.
That’s great.
There’s two things that Abraham modeled in the place of that was called Jehovah Gyra. And that’s what I want to talk about today. Two things that he modeled.
First thing is that he decided in that place to trust and obey God.
He decided to trust and obey God. Now you can imagine, think about it with me,
how Abraham must have felt when God told him to take his son Isaac to the top of
a mountain and to give Isaac as a sacrifice. Like that was no small ask
from God. Right? I mean, I can’t get my head around it even today. And Abraham
for sure didn’t understand it. It didn’t make sense to him. It didn’t seem fair when he obeyed, you know, when when he
was obeying God. And it didn’t seem fair. It just didn’t seem right. I mean,
Isaac was a promised son that God had promised to give him. And here he is
being asked to take that son and provide or or or give as a sacrifice.
But there was something else going on.
And that was that when Abraham obeyed God in that moment, he was passing the test of trust,
the trust test. And he put himself in a position by walking through that with faith in
God. He put himself into a position to experience the provision of the Lord in his life.
Are you hearing me?
When I say to you trust and obey God, I’m talking about trusting him
when you don’t get the job that you want.
I’m talking about trusting him when you don’t get the house that you want.
Or when as a couple you don’t you don’t get pregnant and you want a baby. Somebody [snorts] say, “Trust God.”
Trust God. Say it again. Trust God. Trust God.
I’m talking about that place where in your life where when one door closes,
trusting him that another door will open.
Trusting and obeying God means doing what he tells us to do when it’s not easy and it’s not convenient.
That’s what it means to to really trust and obey God when it goes against what you would want to do
or you feel like doing and yet you do it anyway. Yeah. You walk by faith,
not by feeling.
You walk by faith, not by sight. That’s what it means to trust and obey God.
For example, tithing is about trust.
If you’re not tithing, you’re not trusting.
Tithing is not about money. Tithing is about trust.
Some of you going to clap cuz you know what I’m saying is true.
Malachi 3:10 says, “Bring the whole tithe.” Let’s look at the verse here.
Says, “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse.”
Bring the whole tithe. It doesn’t say give. This is an important I want to pause a minute here and I didn’t plan on
this is not in my notes for today but this is the little extra I give generously to you.
It says bring. Somebody shout. Bring.
Says bring the whole tithe into the storehouse. Now it doesn’t say give. And there’s a reason for that. Because everything you have,
you you you you didn’t get it on your own.
Everything belongs to the Lord. The Bible says the the trees and the fruit from the trees. Everything belongs to the Lord.
We’ll get into that in just a few minutes, but I wanted to just say you’re not giving out of something that is yours. The tithe is the Lord’s. And so he’s just simply saying, “Bring it.
Bring it. Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse that there might be food in my house.
Test me in this.” This is a trust test.
It’s a trust test. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty.
and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven,
pour out blessing in your life, that there’ll not be room enough to receive it. So, what he’s saying here is that
test me or or trust me, pass the test and I will provide.
He’s saying the Lord will provide for you. When you bring When you bring the
tithe, you are passing the test. It’s one thing to say, “Oh, I trust the Lord.” It’s another thing to write out the checks.
[applause]
It’s one thing to say, “Oh, no, the the the Lord, I I trust him with everything I have.” It’s another thing to bring the tithe to the Lord. Just 10% what he says
is holy to him. It’s getting quiet in here right now. Don’t get quiet. I hang out in places where you get quiet.
I poke around a little more when you get too quiet. So, Jehovah Gyra is the place, okay?
The greatest miracles of provision in the Bible, hear
me out, seem to always begin with trust and obedience.
We’re talking about what Abraham modeled at the place called Jehovah Gyra.
Talking about what he modeled. All right.
And and the greatest miracles in the Bible
seem to always start in a place where there is obedience.
It begins with us giving or doing something in obedience to God. For example, Jesus first miracle, the first
miracle Jesus did happened at a wedding feast when there wasn’t enough wine for the guest.
And Jesus mom felt a little embarrassed for their friends and they they were running out of supply. And she goes over
and urges Jesus like she she knew who he was and she knew what he could do. And in his mind like my it’s not time for that yet, mom.
But she was mom [laughter] and she’s like come on let let’s move this up on the schedule a little bit. Our friends need some help.
like our friend I and you know what I love it that it wasn’t just like a real spiritual setting like it was a wedding.
It was song and dance cuz they knew how to party for they they partied for days in that
culture when it was time for them to be married. So she’s urging Jesus, “Let’s get on with it, boy.” Well, what did he
do? He commanded the servants, “Go fill the water pots with water.” In other words, go do something. Bring me something.
Obey what I’m telling you to do. Do exactly what I’m telling you to do.
See, it opens up the door for the provision of the Lord. So, they brought those they they brought the water pots filled with water. And that’s when they
started pouring out whenever Jesus performed his first miracle. And there was more than enough. Everybody say more than enough. More than enough.
Seemed to always be that way. It’s initiated by people who trust and obey God. Think about the miracle of feeding 5,000.
It started with a young man who brought his lunch. He gave two fish, five loaves
of bread. There were 5,000, probably more than 5,000 people. It says 5,000
men that probably 10,000 people, two fish, five loaves. But there was the power of trust and obedience.
The power of trust and obedience.
And as Jesus blessed the meal and he broke it into pieces, it started to multiply.
The Lord provided. I said the Lord provided. I said the Lord provided.
[applause]
There there wasn’t any like like I seafood in the in the in the town there. There
there wasn’t any like Chick-fil-A in the town. Like it was the Lord providing.
And it wasn’t just enough or barely enough. Scripture says there were 12 baskets that were left over. It was overflowing.
When I read that, I I think, yeah, he just kind of treated the disciples to one basket for themselves cuz they served everybody. I don’t know.
But sounds good, doesn’t it? Like like 12 basketfuls left over. Remember this.
When it comes to obeying God, trusting God by giving or doing something that is
inconvenient, when it comes to that, God will never ask you, remember this, God will never ask you to give what you don’t have.
But you can be sure, hear me out on this, that he will ask all of us
at some time in some seasons and and repeatedly in our lives
to give what we would rather keep.
[applause]
That was a really weak clap. I’m waiting for a better one. That deserves Yeah,
that deserves a little more.
That’s good news, isn’t it? Like he’ll never ask you to give what you don’t have. But there will be times in your life, I’m talking about Jehovah Gyra.
I’m talking about the Lord providing.
And we want to rush to the end of this like, “Yeah, he provided. He did a miracle. I can promise you it always starts with trust and obedience.
And he’ll never ask you to give what you don’t have.
But he will repeatedly in our lives as we walk with him. He will bring a validation
of of of us trusting him into the he he’ll give an opportunity for us to not trust him and to not obey him. And when
you do, you are in the land of Jehovah Gyra.
Like when you trust him and it’s not convenient, you’re in the place.
Everybody say in the place. You’re you’re in that right space when you do what is not convenient and you do it anyway.
See, God wants us to hold what we have,
everything we have with with an open hand. He He He doesn’t want us to go, “No,
it’s mine. It’s mine.” Like your children whenever you reach over for a French fry
that you just bought them and they’re like, “Mine?” Like, “No.” And you’re like, “No, no, no. I bought that for you. I gave that to you. You wouldn’t
have had that if it wasn’t for me. I’ll take I’ll take those from you and I’ll take some more if I want to
cuz you wanted to know where it came from.”
So, we don’t hold we don’t hold things with with with a closed fish
as as God’s people. We we hold everything open. Everything I have is the Lord’s. And when he says, “Hey, I want that.” We’re like, “Okay,
[laughter]
you want some French fries?
Go ahead.” We try to get our attitude right in the process, right? But we give and we trust him to provide.
So don’t have a mindset of lack. Be an obedient giver.
Be an obedient giver.
Give knowing that there’s more where that came from.
See, that’s what that child needs to needs to remember. When the parent says,
“I want I want those those French fries.” Child needs to remember if I handle this properly, there’s more where that came from.
I’m good.
Like I’m talking I’m talking to my provider right now. And that’s the way God wants us to be with him.
Give knowing that he’s your provider.
Not with a mindset of lack. Not with a mindset of, “Oh, that’s all I got. I got to hold on to that.” But with an open hand,
realizing that God wants you to be generous and obedient. And he promises in his word that if you are obedient, if you’re willing and obedient, you will eat the good of the land. Amen.
Can you say Jehovah Gyra?
So the that’s the first thing that was in the place of Jehovah Gyra was his willingness to trust and obey God. And
the second thing that was in that place where Abraham was was simply that he believed that God was going to provide for him.
He believed. And that’s where I hope to move some of you today into a place where you really believe.
Because you might be in a season right now where you’re discouraged. And I want to help you today to remember the Lord as your provider.
See, Abraham’s faith never wavered. He believed that God had his best interest in mind. Like even in that ask, even in
that tough moment, if if I went back and showed you that verse, there’s a verse there where
Abraham, they were on their way to to that region of Jehovah Gyra. And he tells the servants, well, they actually
arrived there and he was going to go a little bit further with his son Isaac and start building the altar. And he looked at his servants
and he said to them, “Stay here with the donkeys while me and the boy go over there and worship.” And then he said,
“We will worship and then we will come back to you.”
He didn’t say, “I’m going to come back alone.”
There was something in his heart that just knew. Well, how do he know? I don’t know how he knew, but he knew.
He knew that that that God cares about me. God has my best interest in mind.
I’m not sure how all this is going to work out. I don’t know if he’s going to resurrect my son after. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but he literally
said, “Stay here. We’re going to go and worship and then we will come back to you.” Yeah.
And then on the way up the mountain,
another great thing about the story is that Isaac realized that they had no they had not brought a
lamb to sacrifice. And I just kind of imagine like the son going, “Dad, you know what we did? Like we came all this way and we didn’t even bring a sacrifice.”
And then Abraham just answering him back so confident, “Son, God will provide. God will provide.
God’s going to provide.” See, Abraham believed,
and while he’s in the process of building the altar, the Bible says he turned and he saw a ram
whose horns were caught in a thicket.
like it just happened to be there.
It it just like ju when you get into the place of Jehovah Gyra, this is the kind of stuff that starts show starts happening.
This is the kind of stuff that starts happening in your life when you’re walking with God. You’re obeying God even when it’s not easy.
You’re trusting God when it’s as hard like but you’re trusting that you’re now you’re in the space, okay, where rams show up in thicket,
where mana shows up in the wilderness,
where water shows up in the desert.
You’re in the right place. Now, that’s what happens. when you get in that place.
Sheila and I were 26 years old when we sensed God telling us to move to the Northwest.
Well, I sensed it. Sheila came along slowly. [snorts] We both were reluctant,
but it took her just a little bit longer.
We left everything behind in the Midwest. We left our family. We left our security. We left our jobs to to come
out here to to a small church that had no money and was in the process of filing bankruptcy.
We put God first. We obeyed him and we came to our place of provision.
I said we came to our place of provision.
[applause]
We believe from the very beginning that the Lord would provide and and he has.
I said he has.
[applause]
I said he has. 26 years old.
A little girl in tow. A little baby in tow. Grandparents who are griping because we’re not staying closer to home.
What you doing taking our little girl away? It’s kind of like you guys can go but leave Jod here.
Kind of how you felt. 2600 miles away from family trusting God. What are you doing?
Obeying God.
Why are you going out there? Cuz God said to go like doors opened up. It was the right
thing. My pastor said, “Yep, that’s I I sense it. I sense it. It’s right.” Like
it but oh man, it’s hard. It’s still not easy. Like what? How are we going to
live? What we going to do? Church can’t afford to take care of us. like what what are we going to do? You know,
people that come along after you have been blessed by the Lord and God has provided, they don’t oftenimes know your story.
Like they just step in and they’re like,
“Yeah, it must be great. You pastor this church and you write these books and you
get to go here and go there and like, oh wow, you got the life.” They don’t know where you start.
There there’s business people in our church who are blessed and God’s good.
But it all started with obedience and trust and along the way they’ve been trusting God.
[applause]
Come on. Along the way they’ve been trusting God.
And the great thing I just want to tell you, you never arrive like Jehovah Jar is a place where God will say, “Okay,
I want to know again. I know you did that 40 years ago. I know you did that 10 years ago. I know you. But but I I He
puts it right out there in front of us and he says, “Do you remember who I am in your life?
I I want you to I want you to take a leap of faith in your life.
I want you to do something like that’s going to cause you to have to get out of your comfort zone.
I want you to remember who I am to you.” That’s the way it works, guys.
It’s the way it works. And that’s the supernatural provision of the Lord. Somebody say, “The Lord will provide.”
Come on, say it. Say it again. The Lord will provide. The Lord will provide.
And when you see the Lord as your provider, you know,
when you get in that space, here’s what you know. you know in your heart like you’ve reconciled it to the point where
there is no doubt in your mind that he’s given you everything you have.
He’s given you everything that you have. So good.
And you also know that he will give you everything that you need.
[applause]
I’m calling you to if you’re if you’re not living in this space, come on. Come live in this space.
Come live in this place where where you know in your heart. I wouldn’t have anything good if it didn’t come from God.
Everything I have, the Lord has given me.
[applause]
I’ll read a couple verses in a minute.
Let me let me just first of all let me tell you I heard the story of a praying woman who lived in an apartment right next door to an atheist
and she didn’t have much. But every day that woman would go out on her balcony porch and she would pray for the
provision of God. and he’s right next door and he heard her and he opened up the door and he listened to her in the
morning and she would pray, “Lord, you are my provider.
You are Jehovah Gyra. And I know God that you bless you bless me and you provide for me and I know you’re going
to provide for me another day. You’re going to give me what I need today.” And so the atheist got an idea and he’s like, “You know what I’m going to do?
you know, I’m going to have some fun.
And he went down to the corner grocery store. He bought some groceries. He put it at the front, her front door. He rang the doorbell.
He stood where she couldn’t see him. And she just got all excited. Oh, thank you, Lord. Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Lord.
He had so much fun with that. She’s on the back back porch the next morning.
Thank you, Lord, for yesterday. Thank you for what you did then, Lord. I know you are my provider. And you know, he’s like, this is great. and he goes down,
he buys it again, buys some groceries,
puts them at the front door, rings the doorbell, and he’s having himself a good time listening to her. He did that three or four days. And then one day whenever
she’s out on the back patio of her house and she’s praising the Lord and thanking the Lord, calling the Lord her provider,
he spoke up. He said, “Hey, ma’am.
Ma’am, let me tell you something. The Lord didn’t give that to you. I gave that to you.
I went down to the little grocery store. Did you notice the bag? The grocery bag.
I bought you that. I brought you that.
That That was me. Like, that wasn’t the Lord. Lord didn’t do that for you.
She listened for a minute and stood up straight and she said, “I thank you,
Lord, that you are my provider and you make the devil pay for it. [applause]
[applause]
God will use anything and anybody, but just remember, it all comes from him.”
I’ve said it all comes from him.
[applause]
Bible says every good and perfect gift is from above.
Every good and perfect gift, write it down. It is from above.
The Bible also says there’s a scripture going up right now and it it’s like a warning in in the book of Deuteronomy
from God to his people. He says, “Now you might say to yourself, it’s my power. I went to college. I got this degree. Like, it’s my intelligence.
It’s the strength of my hand. I started this construction company. It’s the strength of my hand that produced this wealth for me.” It’s like God reads our
our mind here. But that mindset was way back there in the book of Deuteronomy.
And then and then God warns him and he says, “But remember the Lord your God.
For it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth.
It is he who gives you Come on. He gives you the intellect.
[applause] Come on. He is who? He is the Lord.
Our provider. Say it again. He is the Lord our provider. It’s he who gives you the ability to get up in the morning and go to work.
It’s he who gives you the ability to work that job.
He’s the one. Every good and every perfect gift comes down from above. And the good news
is is that he’s not only given you everything you have, he’s also continuing to give you everything that you need.
Everything that you need. We ought to give him a hand. Come on.
Everything that you need. Anybody want to praise him today? Anybody want to thank the Lord today?
My God will supply all your need. The Apostle Paul says it.
[music]
Thank you, Jesus. [singing] Sing it with us today, church.
[singing and music]

Come on. Come on, sir. Come [music] to the place. Come to the place. [singing]
Come on, man. [music] Come to the place where you believe him today. Put your trust in him today.
He gives us blessings. [music]
[singing]

I [music] know [singing] the Lord will provide. Thank you, Lord.
Everything [music] I need.
Everything I need. Everything I need. My father [music] has it. My father has it.
Every single [music] [singing] time, the Lord will provide. My father [music] has it.
My father has it. Everything I [singing] need. I [music] want to encourage you today.
I’m going to pray for you right now. And I just want to encourage you to make the trip in this moment to Jehovah Gyra to the
place of faith and confidence, obedience, trust in God.
If you’ve been disappointed, if you’ve been discouraged, come. Come on. Come.
come to this place today of assurance and confidence that God’s not forsaken you. He He He still hears your prayer.
You might not think he he’s there, but he is there in your weak moments. You might think, you know, God God’s not
taking care of me. I promise you, he sees you. You got to come to the place,
though of trust and obedience and faith. And right now, if you if you’re in a place where you say, “Pastor Kevin, I I need
to get there. I want to get there. I need God’s help. I need I need that supply that God has promised that he would give me. I’m going to ask you to
raise your hand around the rooms that we’re in today in Yakimo and Belleview and here in Tacoma and Deont, wherever you are, just raise your hand. Father, I
thank you that you are our provider today. I thank you that your arm is not short that you cannot reach. I thank you that you’re not hard of hearing that you
cannot hear our prayer. But even in this moment, we declare that you are the Lord God, our provider. We declare today,
Lord, in a spirit of faith as your people today that you supply all of our
need. You provide all that we need. You open up the doors. You put us in the right place at the right time. And God,
we see you. Even though God, we haven’t seen you work in this way in our life in this season, we see it coming. And we
say with confidence today that we know you’re faithful. We know you’re good. We know you care. And we know that
provision is on the way in the mighty name of Jesus today. [music]
And all God’s people, shout a big amen. So be it. So be it. So be it. Come on. So be it. Clap your hands for it.
Thank the Lord for it in the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus.
Heads bowed, eyes closed. If you’re here today and you’d say, “I need a new beginning in my life. My relationship with God. I need to be connected to God.
I need to be in relationship with God.
I need to be in right standing with the Lord.” Just raise your hand wherever you are as I talk about it because God’s already been dealing with you. He’s
already [music] been prompting you. He’s already been drawing you. And if that’s you today, a man, a woman, a young
person who would good, I see hands going up here, hands going up here,
believing that in every room, this is our moment. Good. God bless you. I surrender my life to your will, your way, your purpose. And I thank you, God,
that you are the leader and the Lord of my life. This day I mark it as a new beginning. Good, good, good, good, good.
With your hands held high, pray this prayer with all the rest of the people today. Just say with me, Lord Jesus,
Jesus, welcome to my world. Welcome to my world. Forgive me of all my sin. Come into my heart.
And into my life. And make me a new person. I’m deciding right now.
I’m to follow you.
and your will and your will.
You are the leader and you are the Lord of my life. In Jesus’ name, I want to welcome every person today. Come on,
let’s give a great big welcome. God bless you guys.
