Your Story Matters–Just Like These

Jared & Mayce Wingard
A year ago, as we welcomed our second daughter, we made a deep commitment—faith and church would be our foundation. Reflecting on our upbringings, we saw how faith shaped us. Jared, a lifelong churchgoer, and I, raised by a steadfast believer, knew we wanted that same legacy for our family. No more “here and there”—we planted ourselves in church, serving and leading by example. Jared now serves in kids ministry, and our daughter, Lyza leads us in the Lord’s Prayer each morning.
We’re grateful for a church that nurtures our family, strengthens our faith, and connects us with others who share our values. Every day, we pray our girls grow up knowing Christ and the church as a source of love and guidance. Three generations strong, we couldn’t be more thankful!

I didn’t grow up in church—“the men in my family were more likely to go to prison than church.” But even as a child I felt called to God. Over time I drifted, losing faith in people and myself. Everything changed when my wife was invited to Champions Centre. That invitation changed the course of both of our lives. We committed to growing in faith, serving, and putting Jesus at the center. When my grandmother was passing, care pastors prayed with us. I had never received kindness like this, especially from people I didn’t know. Now, our marriage is stronger, our family is thriving, and I get to use sports to introduce young athletes to Jesus. Champions Centre has shown me what it means to live with purpose—and that I am loved.

My journey has been one of transformation, faith, and community. I once lived in grief, shame, and rebellion, but in 2019, after moving to Washington, I felt the Holy Spirit nudge me to find a church. Champions Centre became home, surrounding me with love and growth. In 2024, my faith deepened through a health scare, a visit to Kenya after five years, a career change, and my church family's generosity during my mom’s hospitalization. A long-awaited prayer was answered when my boss paid for my citizenship, finalized in 2025. Once isolated, I now embrace connection, knowing God designed us for community. My story is proof that we are never alone when we trust Him.
