The Power of an Invitation: Why Inviting Someone to Church Matters

Sometimes the simplest act can have the greatest impact. An invitation to church might seem small, but it carries the potential to change the trajectory of someone’s life.

Think about it . . . every testimony has a beginning. For many people, that beginning was a friend, co-worker, neighbor, or even a stranger who said, “Hey, would you like to come to church with me?”

It’s Not Just About a Service, It’s About a Step Toward God

When you invite someone to church, you’re not just inviting them to a building. You’re opening the door for them to experience hope, community, and the presence of God. You’re creating a space for them to hear the message of Jesus, maybe for the first time, or a fresh perspective.

People Are More Open Than You Think

Studies show that most people would attend church if someone they knew simply invited them. Yet, many never receive an invitation. We can easily assume people aren’t interested, but often, they’re just waiting for someone to ask.

An Invitation Says, “You Matter.”

In a world where people feel overlooked or unseen, an invite communicates value. It tells someone they are worth your time and that you care enough to walk alongside them in something that matters deeply to you.

You May Be Part of God’s Bigger Plan

We never know the battles people are fighting or the prayers they’re praying in private. Your invitation could be the answer they’ve been waiting for. One invitation can lead to a moment of salvation, healing, or transformation that ripples through families and generations.

Let’s Be People Who Ask
This week, think of one person you could invite—maybe it’s a friend, a barista you see every week, or a neighbor you wave to but haven’t yet connected with. Pray for courage, extend the invitation, and trust God with the outcome.

You never know the story God is writing. But you can be part of the first sentence. And right now is the perfect time to invite them—our fun, creative, and inspiring At The Movies series is happening, and it’s an easy way to help someone take that first step.
